BAND BIO
Rise NYC is
new band that mixes the big melodies of the new wave of rock and the buzz
of electronics creating a sound that is uniquely their own. Gigolo Records
head supremo, DJ Hell, includes one of their songs on his collection, Gigolo
Records Compilation 8, describes them as "sinister and sweet; The future
of rock". Larry Tee includes one of their songs on his compilation "Gentle
Electric" and describes them as "one of the most compelling new
bands I've seen in NYC in years."AND with a buzz growing on both sides
of the Atlantic, this new group is preparing a full-length album that shows
the many facets of their individual unique artistic visions.
Rise NYC is a mixed gender affair that features Shelly on hookey bass + dramatic
vocals 'dark and sweet' and Mr. underground & Brooklyn ring-master/ Pat
Field's 'stylist to the stars' Die J! Mars + programming & guitar. All
Growing in the East Village/Williamsburg music scene that has spawned so many
gold and platinum artists of late in their realm (think Scissor Sisters, Interpol,
Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio, LCD Soundsystem, etc.) RISE NYC has been
inspired by a variety of great artists although it does not sound like anything
else, it's classic. Working alongside legendary music heavyweights like producer
Jim Sclavunos of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Kid Congo Powers (Nick Cave,
The Cramps, and The Gun Club), Supa DJ Dmitri formerly of Deee-Lite, and Genesis
P-Orridge of Throbbing Gristle, It is sure to blow up soon! They have put
together a 10 song album, Mise en Scène, that puts the sound of NYC
2007 into music and are already recording a follow-up e.p. with legendary
producer, Freddy Bastone (Queen, Malcolm McClaren, Ciara).
Their live show is a multi-media experience that includes acting, dance, artist
installations, theatre, performance art, fashion, and self-made movies that
are projected during their shows. Inventive lighting brings it all together,
adding a mood that matches their mysterious sound. Be sure to catch them live
this fall 2007!
